Helth ‘ Gā-mər, n. One who is interested in developing, researching or playing game technology as a way of improving the well being of others.

At healthGAMERS, we want to start a dialog about Health Games, an emerging field that uses game-based technology to improve the health of the public. Many players are needed to make a successful Health Game, and we hope people from a variety of fields will weigh in on this innovative subject. So welcome healthcare professionals, researchers, patients, developers, funders, public health officials, professors, teachers, students, parents, kids, game players and those just hearing about healthy games.

As one of the largest divisions of Serious Games, Games for Health have been used in almost all aspects of the healthcare system including the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease and disease-causing behaviors. Health Games are also used specifically for medical professionals and patients as training simulators, decision-making tools and health maintenance aids. Healthy games come in all shapes and sizes and include online health games, computer-based health games, hand-held health games and console health games. They take on a wide variety of health topics including children’s health, type 2 diabetes, asthma, obesity, brain health, nutrition and physical fitness.

Help us improve the lives of others and join the Health Games conversation!
